The short version: Cmd+F works entirely on your device. It doesn’t collect, store, or share any information about you, and it never sends anything you see or search for anywhere.

The camera

Cmd+F uses your camera to find text in what you point it at. Camera images are processed on your device as you go, using Apple’s built-in text recognition, and are never saved or transmitted.

What you search for

Your searches stay on your device. Searches you choose to save, and your settings, are stored on your device only, and are removed if you delete the app.

Related words

If you turn on related words, Cmd+F asks Apple Intelligence’s on-device language model for words similar to your search. This runs on your device; your searches aren’t sent to Apple or anyone else.

No tracking, accounts, or analytics

Cmd+F has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. It doesn’t use any third-party services, and it doesn’t connect to the internet.

Purchases

Any purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Cmd+F only learns whether a purchase was made, so it can unlock what you bought; it never sees your payment details.

Children

Cmd+F doesn’t collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
